CONTEMPORARY ASIAN ART RESIDENCY PROGRAM | CAARP
COLLECTIVE SML | k is an artist-run project space in Denver's Santa Fe Art District. We are open to creative suggestions to make Denver a more exciting, inclusive, and supportive art community. One of the collective's critical missions is promoting Asian and Asian-American art and narratives through cross-cultural exchange and research.
CAARP(Contemporary Asian Art Residency Program) cultivates contemporary Asian American art and culture by hosting visual artists, curators, and scholars through residency or exchange programs. RedLine Contemporary Art Center is a partner and exhibition home for CAARP. In addition, the two organizations collaborate with many local art non-profit organizations and institutions to assist the visiting residents. CAARP aims to empower and support visual practices addressing underrepresented issues and bringing forward current and relevant artworks from Asian and Asian American communities.

Founded by Sammy Lee in 2017, COLLECTIVE SML | k is an artist-run project space located just south of Denver, Colorado's Santa Fe Art District. Now the Collective has active members sharing ideas and enthusiasm for many meaningful projects. We are open to any creative suggestions to make Denver a more exciting and supportive art community. One of the Collective's critical missions is promoting Asian and Asian-American art and narratives through cross-cultural exchange and research.

The 2,000 square foot project space includes a 500 square foot indoor studio, an open 800 square foot living and exhibition area, and a 700 square foot outdoor display and workspace.
Sponsorship
CAARP is always seeking sponsors - Artist sponsors and Project sponsors. Individual or group sponsors enable artists to create works and to share their practices in Denver. In addition, the sponsor will enjoy exclusive studio visits, a dinner with the artist, and a unique art gift from the resident artist. Project sponsors usually sponsor an exhibit, catalog production, and an intern's wage to complete a project. The sponsor will be credited to all online and print promotional materials. Your contribution is tax-deductible through fiscal sponsor partnership with RedLine, a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity.

Partnership
CAARP collaborates with many leading local, national and international art organizations. These partnerships strengthen CAARP to carry out its vision of bringing contemporary Asian art projects and more significant impact in the Denver area.
Apply
Your CAARP residency can happen by invitation, sponsorship, and application. We hope you consider joining us in Denver! If you are paying a residency fee, it covers living and workspace, orientation, internet access, utility, and a welcome dinner for you to meet the local creatives. Based on single occupancy, the (2021-2022) fee is currently set as $375 per week, $1500 per month. Spaces can be shared by up to three artists. If you apply as a group of two or three, an additional fee of $50 per person for a weekly rate and $200 per person for a monthly rate will be added to the base fee. Through collective SML | K's own sponsorship program, at least one artist or group (of three maximum) will receive a free one-month residency opportunity each year. Please apply!
Submissions will be reviewed by the committee members, and you will be contacted within two to three weeks if we are interested.
